AMD EPYC Genoa, the fastest CPU with up to 96 cores!

When it comes to coming up with the fastest CPUs, AMD has not disappointed us at all in recent years with their stupidly fast high-end CPUs. And here they are, coming with another monstrosity of a CPU known as the AMD EPYC Genoa series. Before explaining what they are capable of, let’s talk a little about their specifications:

Main Specs:

Core Count: Up to 96 Zen 4 cores

Memory: Up to 6 TB DDR5 memory

Connectivity: 128 Lanes PCI Express Gen 5

AMD Epyc Genoa:

Pricing:

When talking about the fastest in the market, of course, one can expect the prices to be high. The same was expected when the leaks came out for this CPU, and as expected, the prices are quite high for the AMD Epyc Genoa series. I’d say they are well justified, as what they are providing is like nothing else. The AMD Epyc Genoa series consists of 18 models in total. The series starts from the Epyc Genoa 917, 4f, which is priced at $3,850, and goes up to the 96-core beast Epyc Genoa 965,4, which is priced at a whopping $11,805.

Support:

All the AMD Epyc Genoa series support the following:

  1. 6TB memory per socket.
  2. 12 channels of DDR5-4800 memory (1DPC configuration).
  3.  128 Lanes of PCIe 5.0
  4. Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT)

Power Consumption:

Over time, we have seen the power consumption of GPUs increase rapidly; well, the same is happening in the CPU sector this time. The Genoa 9654 comes with a 360-watt peak TDP by default, which is indeed quite a lot;, it can also be cranked up to 400 watts for better performance. Well, this much was expected as every time performance always comes at a cost.

Performance:

When talking about performance, one can expect from the absurd specifications that the performance of these things would be extraordinary, and it indeed is that way. The performance of these CPUs has its own league, even the baseline model 9174f comes close to the other competitors’ flagships in some cases.

AMD Epyc Genoa Benchmark(Dual CPUs)

Even though this benchmark is of dual CPUs, we can still see the gap between AMD’s CPUs and its competitors. The Epyc series steals all top 4 spots and even secures more spots in the top 10. Trust me, as good as the dual CPU performance is, the single CPU is also pretty much the same. It gaps every other competitor by a long shot, making it easily the fastest CPU on Earth currently.
